Cognitive Psychology and
Cross Discipline Collaboration

Cognition is Not the Exclusive Property of Psychology: Cross Discipline CollaborationLike most sciences, cognition has been revolutionized by the development of low cost, high speed, large capacity computers. It is now possible to represent and compute the micro-units and processes upon which all cognitive processes are based. This development has revealed that many of our colleagues in biology, speech and hearing sciences, mathematics, physics and computer science share our passion for the study and modeling of cognitive processes. Fortunately for some of our students and faculty, our colleagues in these departments have willingly collaborated with us on a variety of research projects. The collaboration, which is even more formally defined in some universities, shows that cognition is not the exclusive subject of psychology departments. Acting from this perspective, we welcome students who are willing to make use of cross-department resources to study specific questions in the cognition domain.
